Buying

How does buying work?

Swipe through listings and tap a card to see the full details. When you're ready, tap Buy now. Before you pay you'll see the full price: the item, buyer protection and Australia Post postage to your address. You pay by card, handled securely by Stripe.

What do the buttons on a card do?

✕ (or swipe left) skips the listing. The blue ★ (or swipe up) saves it to your wishlist. The green ♥ (or swipe right) opens the listing so you can check the details and buy.

What is the buyer protection fee?

A small fee added at checkout: 5% of the item price plus A$0.50. On a $100 item that's $5.50. Sellers receive their full asking price; this fee is the only thing we add.

It pays for secure card payments and for protecting your purchase: your payment is held until the item has reached you, and if it doesn't arrive or isn't as described, you get your money back (see Problems with an order).

Do I need to confirm when my item arrives?

Yes, please. When it arrives and it's as described, open the order and tap I've received it. That releases the seller's payment. If something's wrong, tap Report a problem instead. That holds the payment while we sort it out.

Can I cancel an order?

You can ask to cancel any time before the seller has posted the item. If the seller agrees, you get a full refund. Once it's been posted, see Problems with an order.

How many items can I save?

Five on the free plan. Collector members can save as many as they like.

Postage

How is postage worked out?

Every order is sent with Australia Post Parcel Post, with tracking. Sellers don't set postage. They choose a parcel size for the item, and the price is Australia Post's own price for that size, from the seller's postcode to yours. We don't add anything to it.

You'll see the postage on the listing and again at checkout, once you've saved a delivery address.

Why can't I see the postage on a listing?

Postage depends on where the item is going, so we need your delivery address first. Add it under Profile → Address. If Australia Post's price service is briefly unavailable, try again in a minute.

Can I collect in person?

Not at the moment. Every order is posted with Australia Post, with tracking.

Where do I set my delivery address?

Profile → Address. You can change it any time. Orders you've already placed keep the address they were bought with.

Who sees my address?

Only the seller of an item you've paid for, so they can post it to you. Your address isn't shown on your profile or to anyone else. See our privacy policy.

How long does delivery take?

Sellers have 3 business days to post. Australia Post then usually takes a few business days, depending on the distance. You can follow the parcel with the tracking number in your order.

Problems with an order

My item hasn't arrived, or isn't as described

Tap Report a problem on the order, or email support@aussiecollectibles.com.au with your order number and photos. Let us know within 7 days of the expected delivery date.

If the item didn't arrive, or is significantly different from the listing, you get a full refund to the card you paid with. If it isn't as described, you send it back and the seller pays the return postage.

Are my Australian Consumer Law rights affected?

No. Nothing on Aussie Collectibles limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. See our terms.

Selling

How do I list an item?

Go to Products and tap +. Add photos, a title, a description of at least 20 characters, the category, condition and price, then choose a parcel size and the postcode you'll post from. Clear photos and an honest description sell items fastest: mention any wear, damage or missing parts.

When does my listing go live?

Straight away. Items priced at $500 or more are checked by a person first, to keep fakes off the marketplace. Buyers can report any listing, and we remove anything that breaks the rules.

What does it cost to sell?

Nothing. Listing and selling are free, and you receive your full asking price. Buyers pay a small buyer protection fee on top. (Golden Seller is an optional paid plan with extra tools; see Plans.)

How does postage work for sellers?

Choose the parcel size the item will fit once it's packed. The buyer pays Australia Post's price for that size from your postcode to theirs, and that postage is added to your payout. After a sale, buy postage at the Post Office or in the Australia Post app and send it to the address shown on the order.

Pick the size honestly: if the packed parcel is bigger or heavier than the size you chose, Australia Post will charge you more than the buyer paid.

When do I have to post the item?

Within 3 business days of the sale, with Australia Post tracking. Add the tracking number in Orders when you mark the item as posted.

How and when do I get paid?

Set up payouts once under Profile → Payouts. It takes a few minutes with Stripe, our payment provider. After a sale, the buyer's payment is held until they confirm the item has arrived, or automatically 7 days after you mark it posted, unless the buyer has reported a problem. Stripe then pays it into your bank account on its normal schedule, usually within a few business days. Your very first payout can take up to 7 days.

What can't I sell?

Fakes, and reproductions or custom pieces passed off as originals; stolen goods; anything illegal to sell in Australia; and items you don't have in your hands. Reproductions are fine if they're clearly labelled as reproductions. The full list is in our terms.

Is there a free trial?

Your account

Why do you need my mobile number?

Aussie Collectibles is for Australians, and an Australian mobile number is needed to buy or sell, so buyers and sellers stay accountable. We don't show it on your profile or your listings. (If you add a phone number to your delivery address, the seller of your order sees it with the address so the parcel can be delivered.)

How do I change my email address?

Email support@aussiecollectibles.com.au from your current address and we'll change it for you.

How do I delete my account?

In the app, go to Profile → Delete account, or email us. This removes your account and your listings. Records of completed orders are kept for as long as Australian law requires. Full details: Delete your account.

I've found a problem or a dodgy listing. What do I do?

Tap Report this listing on the listing, or email support@aussiecollectibles.com.au. A person reads every report.

Aussie Collectibles is an independent marketplace. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any games publisher, card manufacturer, toy company or other rights holder. Brand names in listings are used only to identify genuine second-hand goods.
