Privacy Policy
Aussie Collectibles · Last updated 23 October 2026
Aussie Collectibles is an Australian marketplace where collectors buy and sell retro gaming gear, trading cards and action figures. This policy explains what personal information we collect through the Aussie Collectibles app and website, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how you can access or delete it.
We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
1. Who we are
Aussie Collectibles ("we", "us") operates the Aussie Collectibles mobile app and the website at aussiecollectibles.com.au. You can contact us about anything in this policy at admin@aussiecollectibles.com.au.
2. What we collect
| Information | Why we collect it |
|---|---|
| Name and email address | To create your account, verify it by one-time code, and contact you about your orders. |
| Australian mobile number | Required to buy or sell, so every buyer and seller can be identified if something goes wrong with a sale, and so we can contact you about your orders. We don't show it on your profile or your listings. |
| Delivery address — name, street address, suburb, state, postcode and an optional phone number | To deliver what you buy. When you buy an item, this address is shared with the seller of that order so they can post it (see section 4). |
| Your state, and the postcode you post from (sellers) | Your state is shown on your listings. The postcode you post from is used, with the buyer's postcode, to get the postage price from Australia Post. It isn't shown to buyers. |
| Listing content — item titles, descriptions and photos you upload | To display your items to buyers. Anything you put in a listing is public. |
| Purchase and sales history, including tracking numbers | To show your orders, track delivery, release payment to sellers, handle disputes and meet our record-keeping obligations. |
| Payment details | Card and bank details are entered directly into Stripe and are processed and stored by Stripe. We never see or store your full card or bank account numbers. |
| Device token for notifications | To send order and message notifications, if you allow them. |
| Technical data — device type, app version, error logs | To keep the app working and diagnose faults. |
We do not collect sensitive information as defined in the Privacy Act, and you should not include it in listings or messages.
3. How we use it
- To run your account and let you buy and sell on the marketplace.
- To work out postage with Australia Post and show it to you before you pay.
- To process payments, hold the buyer's payment while the item is on its way, and then pay the seller.
- To send transactional messages — verification codes, order confirmations, delivery updates.
- To respond to your questions and resolve disputes between buyers and sellers.
- To detect and prevent fraud, prohibited listings and misuse of the marketplace.
- To improve the app and fix faults.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising by third parties.
4. Who we share it with
- The seller of an item you buy. When you pay for an item, the seller of that order sees your name and delivery address, and the phone number on that address if you added one, so they can post it to you with Australia Post. They also see your account name, how long you've been a member and how many purchases you've completed. They don't see your email address, your account mobile number or your payment details. Sellers may only use these details to send that order.
- The buyer of an item you sell. Buyers see your listing, your name and profile photo, your state, your rating, reviews and completed sales, and the Australia Post tracking number once you've posted the item.
- Australia Post — to price postage, we send Australia Post's postage calculator the postcode the item is posted from, the buyer's postcode and the parcel size. We don't send names or street addresses for this. When a seller posts an item, the address on the parcel goes to Australia Post as part of sending it, under Australia Post's own privacy policy.
- Stripe — our payment processor, for payments, seller onboarding and identity verification required by Australian financial regulations. See Stripe's privacy policy.
- Google Firebase — for push notifications and app diagnostics.
- Our hosting and email providers — who store data on our behalf under contract.
- Law enforcement or regulators — where we are required by law to disclose information.
Overseas disclosure
Some of these providers store data outside Australia, including in the United States and the European Union. We take reasonable steps to ensure they handle your information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
5. How long we keep it
We keep account and transaction records for seven years after your last transaction, to meet Australian tax and record-keeping requirements. Each order keeps a copy of the delivery address it was sent to, so changing your address later doesn't change where a parcel already in transit is going. Listing content is removed when you delete a listing. Other personal information is deleted or de-identified when we no longer need it.
6. Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored on access-controlled servers. Payment credentials are handled by Stripe, not by us. No system is perfectly secure, but if a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
7. Your choices and rights
- Access and correction — you can view and edit your profile and delivery address in the app, or email us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Deletion — you can delete your account in the app, or ask us to delete your account and personal information at admin@aussiecollectibles.com.au. We will delete what we are not legally required to keep, and confirm when it is done. See Delete your account.
- Notifications — you can turn push notifications off in the app or in your device settings at any time.
8. Children
Aussie Collectibles is not intended for people under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Complaints
If you think we have mishandled your personal information, email admin@aussiecollectibles.com.au and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page, and tell you in the app if the change is significant.
